This has been a busy week so far at Sara's Suds. Not only do we make and sell our luxurious soap and lotion we also take care of the herd of goats who support our endeavor by supplying us with this wonderful wholesome milk. Every year, the first week of September we load up a few of the girls and take them to our local fair. This gives the community a chance to see our animals, learn more about our farm and goat business, and also city kids a chance to touch an...Read Full Post »

In our neck of the woods in Western Pennsylvania the residents seem to be pushing to squeeze in that last little bit of summer that is soon to be over. The goat and horse barn is full of hay and all of our little spring babies have grown up to be small adults. The leaves are slowly starting to show their golden and russet hues already reminding us that the season of apple pies, pumpkin patches and fall harvest festivals are fast approaching. We at Sara’s Sud...Read Full Post »

How can you tell if the soap someone is selling is the real deal?
1. Feel it!
Handmade soap will feel silky, and hard, while melt and pour soap will feel soft, sticky, and may make your hands sore or itchy.
2. Ask about the ingredients!
If they can't tell you the ingredients or start reading off a long list, BEWARE!Read Full Post »

Well, we are heading into the thick of craft show season; which means we will be busy, busy, busy! We have been making soap like crazy and selling like crazy! If you've been following our posts, you know how busy we've been making soap in the evenings, but we've been just as busy selling too. We had two day craft shows these past two weekends in a row and boy are we burned out. These were on top of online and phone orders. Luckily, we now have two weekends off to recoup until we start again. ...Read Full Post »

As I've said, this week has been a very busy week of making goat's milk soap. Wednesday night, we made English Rose and *new* Rose Garden. Then, last night we made Lovely Lavender and Spearmint. It has been a productive week and we hope to keep up this pace!

This week will be a busy week of making soap as we have lots of craft shows coming up. Last night we made 2 batches of goat's milk soap. The first batch was made with olive oil infused with annatto seeds & calendula petals and scented with lemongrass & orange essential oils then topped with calendula petals. The second triple batch was scented with lemongrass essential oil and has lemon grass mixed in. It was a productive night and smells amazing in the house.

We had another baby goat born tonight! She was born to our misfit goat Blue (Boer, Nubian, Kiko mix) and a Boer buck. We are not sure what we plan to do with the pair, but for now we will just bask in her cuteness. Doesn't she just look like a little Bunny?

As I walked to my barn on this beautiful April morning, I could hear the birds singing and smell the crisp frostiness of the day which had only just begun. I started feeding the goats which supply the milk for our handmade soap and I began to wish that I could capture this wonderful aroma and duplicate that smell into a bar of rich, moisturizing goat’s milk soap. I want all of our customers to be able to close their eyes in the shower and smell exactly what I am enjoying...Read Full Post »
